Awake Goy To most American readers, what you are about to read will be unfathomable; to me, a jaded, bitter, Canadian who has already fled the country for greener pastures, this story is mundane. Sadly, this is just what life is like in Canada now. The crime that Constable Helen Grus—a 20-year veteran detective with the sexual assault and child abuse unit of the Ottawa Police Service (OPS)—her two recent performance reviews in 2019 and 2021 were, “Meets and exceeds expectations; exceeds all expectations”—is accused of, is crazy.
