Two West Bank boys killed by old mortar

According to Palestinian officials, Hamza and Zayed Jradat were killed and six teenagers were injured on Tuesday when an old Israeli mortar detonated in a scrap metal storage field in the village of Sier near al-Khalil, where the children had been playing.

An Israeli military spokesman said that “unexploded ordnance that was ignited” caused the incident and that the military is investigating the blast.

Israel occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the West Bank in 1967. It imposes strict restrictions on indigenous Palestinians, while expanding illegal Jewish settlements in defiance of international law.
