British Tornado jets fired precision-guided missiles against a large bunker in Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi’s hometown of Sirte, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said.
The Tornadoes took off from RAF Marham in Norfolk on a long-range strike mission on Thursday night.
Libyan rebels are also building up their forces on the road to Sirte, sending tanks and rocket launchers.
Rebel leaders have appealed to foreign governments to unfreeze Libyan funds.
The UN has already agreed to release $1.5bn (£1bn) in Libyan assets – which had been frozen under sanctions – to help with immediate humanitarian needs.

they couldnt find and kill OSAMA for 9-1/2 years,
but we’re supposed to believe they have Ghadaffi..
“humanitarian needs” like what, more ammo?
People have a very short memory, the UN mandate was to protect civilians from massacre. Not for Regime change. The war on terror was supposedly against the threat of Al Qaeda now NATO are using them as a fighting force. I feel very sorry for the People of Libya. They put up with a Dicatator whose image is everywhere for 40 years now they will get Fundamentalist Islam and be returned to the 8th century. In the best of all possible Worlds the NTC would be drawing up a Constitution of the people and a Bill of Rights on the U.S Revoloutionary model….Real Freedom and Liberation.
