The Australian Defence Force has signed a $124 million maintenance contract with Brisbane-based aerospace company Sikorsky Helitech to service its fleet of Blackhawk and Seahawk helicopters.
Defence Minister Stephen Smith said the contract would support local jobs in Brisbane.
“Brisbane and Queensland are now very much becoming a centre of helicopter and aviation maintenance,” he told reporters in Brisbane on Tuesday.
Sikorsky Helitech is an Australian subsidiary of the US-based United Technologies Corporation.
