Von der Leyen: Targeting civilian infrastructure and cutting off water, electricity an act of ‘pure terror’

In a televised speech, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen strongly condemned ‘targeted attacks on civilian infrastructure,’ characterising them as ‘acts of pure terror’ with the intention of depriving men, women, and children of essential services such as water, electricity and heating ‘with the winter coming’. As Israel continues its large-scale bombardment of Gaza, wiping entire residential neighbourhoods and cutting off food, water, electricity and fuel to more than 2 million people living the besieged Strip, we take a look at Von der Leyen’s stance on Israel’s actions compared to the acts committed in Ukraine by Russia.
