Desperate Western Media: Russia Is Helping ISIS!

Business Insider claims that ISIS is advancing towards Aleppo, thanks in part to Russian air strikes targeting ISIS. Makes sense.

Russia is now “aiding” ISIS, according to trustworthy sources:

The terror group ISIS made gains near Syria’s largest city in the last 24 hours, indirectly aided by Russian airstrikes that drove other groups out.

ISIS militants seized five villages on the northern edge of Aleppo, putting them within 1 mile of territory held by the Syrian regime, Reuters reports.

Russian airstrikes in the area reportedly killed hundreds of anti-regime rebels, many of whom ISIS (also known as the Islamic State, ISIL, and Daesh) was also fighting.

“Daesh has exploited the Russian air strikes and the preoccupation of the (rebel) Free Syrian Army in its battles in Hama, and advanced in Aleppo,” one rebel commander told Reuters.

Nice try, Business Insider. A Syrian Kurdish leader who visited Washington this week in an attempt to receive U.S. support said in an interview with Al-Monitor that there are no FSA forces near Aleppo:

Asked for the Kurds’ view of Russia’s bombing campaign, Ehmed said it was “a good step for the fight against terrorism but on the other hand, it is empowering the Assad regime, which is a bad point.”

Ehmed also asserted, however, that there are no members of the US-backed Free Syria Army (FSA) in the area around Aleppo and Idlib that is being pummeled in the current Russian offensive.

The Pentagon and White House have a different view and say that Russia is hitting fighters there who have received US funding and training.

And this is coming from a militia leader who wants U.S. military aid to fight Assad.

Also, let’s ignore the fact that over the last day, Russia has pummled ISIS, destroying “two militant command centers, 29 field camps, 23 fortified facilities and several troop positions.”
