A YOUNG woman has suffered severe burns after being reportedly tied up inside a burning house in Perth.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was reportedly found tied to a bed in a house in the Perth suburb of Cannington after the fire started at about 11.30am (2.30pm Melbourne time) yesterday, PerthNow reported.

It is understood the woman suffered burns to about 50 per cent of her body and is in a critical condition in hospital.

Detective Matt Atkinson told reporters at the scene they were treating the incident as suspicious.

“We’re doing some background on the person we believe it to be, and hopefully from there we will be able to conduct more inquiries in identifying who may have been part of this offence,” he said.

The woman was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital on a “priority one” job by St John Ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

Police refused to confirm reports that the woman was tied up.

The fire was brought under control by 12.30pm, and the Fire Investigation Analysis Unit was at the scene.
