George W. Bush the Genocider early on took a libertarianish position, disingenuously. He said that laws could not compel people on such an issue, that “we need to change people’s hearts.” How many unborn and born did he kill with his wars and sanctions? Perhaps one million.
The great pro-life champion is, of course, Ron Paul. He wrote a book against abortion, and has worked against the practice since he first encountered this killing in medical school. But he is also pro-life when it comes to war, euthanasia, and capital punishment, in what St. John Paul II called the “seamless garment of life.”
