A series of drive-by shootings in Sydney’s south-west don’t appear to be random, police say.

Investigations are under way into two shootings at Granville and three others at Canley Heights, Old Guildford and Holroyd on Saturday night.

No-one was injured in the shootings, all of which involved shots being fired into houses, but police are concerned there could be reprisal attacks.

“These do not appear to be random shootings … the escalation of these incidents is extremely concerning to police,” Detective Superintendent Deb Wallace said in a release on Sunday.

Supt Wallace said it was lucky no-one was injured in the attacks, which all happened within about a two-hour period.

“There were occupants, including children, at home when the shots were fired,” she told AAP on Sunday.

“We do call on those that may be seeking to take any reprisal action to think twice because it will only escalate, and if they don’t care about their safety then think about the safety of their families.”

Supt Wallace said police would step up their presence in the area in the coming nights.

NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell said shootings in Sydney’s south-west were an “ongoing concern”.

“Any information the public has about these drive-by shootings … needs to be fed in to police who are doing their best to try and track down those involved,” Mr O’Farrell told reporters in Sydney on Sunday.
