A credible Egyptian source confirmed to Days of Palestine through a phone call that the Egyptians are aiming to cut Egyptian electricity on Gaza.

He continued: “Israel has been unable to undermine Hamas’ rule in Gaza, so that, it is trying through Egyptian to increase economic pressure on Gazans in order to explode in Hamas’ face.”

On Friday, Middle East Monitor reported a Palestinian official from the private sector Gaza electricity company saying that Egypt would disconnect two power transmission lines that provide electricity to the southern Gaza Strip.

The official warned that this would lead to a large deficit in the power supply, especially since the power supply line coming from the Israeli occupation had not been working for the past seven days.
