Some ladies like to get their hair dry as quickly as possible after a swim to avoid that nightmare frizz.

But this woman went a step too far when she tried to use a jet engine to blow-dry her locks – with near-disastrous consequences.

She was captured in this video on a beach in the Caribbean which borders an international airport.

Clearly looking for a thrill, she is seen grabbing hold of a fence in the jet wash of a plane preparing to take off, a stunt that appears remarkably popular with sun-worshippers there.

But as the engines pick up speed, so too does the turbulence, which eventually blows her with such force it catapults her backwards.

With arms flailing, she tries to keep on her feet, but is thrown head-first into a low wall. Onlookers come rushing to her aid, although it is not clear what injuries she sustained.

Flailing: The turbulence is enough to rip her from the fence and send toppling back towards the beach

Out of control: She fears the worst as she heads straight for wall at potentially fatal speed

Maho Beach, on the the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, is famous for its close proximity to Princess Juliana International Airport.

Because of the short runway (2,180 metres), aircraft have to touch down as close as possible to the beginning of the track to ensure a safe landing.

The beach is such a popular location for plane-spotters, most bars and restaurants there have daily departure and arrival boards.

Signs on the beach warn that jet blast can cause injury or death – as this woman found to her to her cost.

Don’t say she wasn’t warned…

Danger: A sign near the beach warning the dangers... but it doesn't put off some thrill-seekers

WHERE did you learn to write? No spell check?

A single commercial jet engine produces about 85,000 lbs thrust which can easily hurl a vehicle away so what this woman (and the other idiots) were thinking is a bit of a mystery!

You can’t fix stupid.

I must need a vacation because I am jealous of a stupid woman who hit her head.

That happened to me at the same spot on the same beach. My husband was smart enough to move, well I wasn’t. Nothing like getting my whole body sandblasted! Besides that it is a great place to watch the planes come and go!

Stupid is as stupid does. Guess they’ve not heard of jet efflux, eh?

That’s so funny lol.

Oooooo….i could so do that!

line em up and start up an F1 fighter, that should frazzle their hair.
