A 26-YEAR-OLD Australian man has died today while riding an inner-tyre tube down the Mekong River in Laos.
The man been named in the media as Lee Hudswell of Cronulla in Sydney’s south.
He is believed to have died in an accident while riding an inner tube on the Mekong River.
The activity, also known as tubing, is popular among tourists in the South-East Asian nation.
A department spokeswoman said Australian consular officials in Laos’ capital, Vientiane, were liaising with Laotian officials over the incident.
Consular staff were also providing assistance to the man’s family in Australia.
