A BOOZE bus in Melbourne’s east took a turn for the bizarre last night after a man began serenading police with his bagpipes.

Piper George Arundel was eager to demonstrate the full range of his breathing abilities after passing a breath test on Maroondah Highway in Lilydale about 11pm.

Minutes after driving away after being tested, he returned dressed in a traditional Scottish kilt with bagpipes in hand.

Police and motorists were then treated to an unusual 15-minute concert of Scotland the Brave before Mr Arundel continued towards his destination.

Police were surprised by Mr Arundel’s actions.

“This is one of the most unusual and enjoyable things that I’ve ever had happen to me on a booze bus line,” Leading Senior Constable Steve McIlroy said.
