Bahrain arrests another ‘terror’ suspect

“Public security chief Major General Tariq al-Hassan announced on Wednesday the arrest of suspect Hussain Isa Mohammed Isa Adam, who was on the list of 20 people accused of terrorist blasts,” AFP quoted a report published by the state news agency BNA.

“The suspect was referred to the public prosecution to take legal action against him over charges of manufacturing homemade bombs and carrying out criminal acts that caused injury to civilians and policemen,” it added.

Hussain is among twenty people wanted by Bahraini police for carrying out bombing attacks. He is the sixth suspect on the list to be detained.

Bahraini authorities accuse the men of throwing petrol bombs at Saudi-backed regime forces during anti-regime demonstrations in villages near the capital, Manama.

Protests have intensified in the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom, with demonstrators demanding the downfall of the Al Khalifa regime.

According to human rights organization Amnesty International, scores of people have been killed since the protests first erupted in February 2011.
