Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has been floated as a possible running mate for Mitt Romney, but he says he’s not eager to fill the slot.
“I’ve got the job that I want,” Jindal told Politico. “Our next challenge is pension reform.”
Like other potential VP nominees, Jindal downplayed his interest in the role without saying he wouldn’t do it. Some political analysts believe he would be a drag on the Republican ticket, citing his disastrous 2009 State of the Union response as evidence he’s not ready for the national spotlight.
Jindal endorsed Rick Perry in September and is now supporting Romney. He announced his new endorsement in a statement on Tuesday after Rick Santorum dropped out of the race:
Congratulations to Governor Romney on winning a hard fought race, I look forward to supporting him in retiring President Obama.
It’s time for all Republicans to focus their energies on the fall campaign which will give Americans a fundamental choice between Obama’s lurch toward European style big government and the Republican alternative of a thriving private sector with a smaller government.
