Adelaide police say the victim of a shooting at Munno Para was the head of the Comancheros motorcycle club.
Vincent Foccarelli, 37, is in hospital with a thigh injury.
Police say he was taken to an area near Crown Court about midnight and met another man there.
It is believed there was an argument and Mr Foccarelli was shot as he left.
Police are searching for the gunman who left the scene on a motorcycle.
