The Greek community in Argentina marked the bicentennial of the Greek War of Independence by proudly flying the Greek flag over Buenos Aires.
A drone was used by the Hellenic Collective of Buenos Aires to make a spectacular video of the celebrations. It flew over some of the most spectacular monuments of the Argentinian capital which were flying the Greek flag on the monumental day.
Greek children of the Argentinian diaspora, waving flags and wearing traditional costumes, also gathered outside the Greek School there.
White and blue balloons were released into the Argentinian sky as the national anthem was sung to help celebrate the Greek bicentennial.
Another Greek community organization in Argentina, the Hellenic Cultural Association Nostos, is a non-profit civil entity dedicated to promoting and disseminating the Hellenic culture and language.
President Cristina Tsardikos told Greek Reporter recently that concerts and other types of presentations have been held to mark the Bicentennial, with the purpose of fostering the spread of Greek culture to the Greeks and Philhellenes of Argentina.
There are a great number of Greek communities throughout Latin America. They are numerous, and prosperous, although often small. But they all share a great bond, the love of the country of their ancestors.
Despite their different nationalities, they feel like a great family full of friendly and hospitable people, as if their bond with their homeland conveyed the values that characterize the Greek people.
The entire world turned Greek to mark Greece’s bicentennial, celebrated on March 25, 2021, commemorating 200 years since the declaration of its War of Independence.
In every corner of the globe where members of the Greek Diaspora are present, the anniversary was marked. Iconic landmarks in all of those countries were illuminated in blue and white in honor of the Greek people and their struggle for freedom exactly 200 years ago.
