THE first drugs that can slow the ageing process are likely to become available within five to 10 years, raising the prospect of people eventually living to 150 or more, researchers say.
Peter Smith, dean of medicine at the University of NSW, said a girl born today in Australia could reasonably expect to live to 100 already, due to advances in medicine, lifestyle and public health. In addition, new drugs to help the body repair itself were in the early stages of development, along with new stem cell therapies.
”I think there is real hope we can extend human life by some decades further,” Professor Smith said. Living to 150 may sound unnerving, but it would be ”great” if you were well until near the end, he said. ”The aim is not just to eke out extra existence, but to facilitate a longer healthy life,” he said.
”People aren’t going to want to retire at 65 and spend many, many decades sitting at home.”

Could be that this drug makes you stupid or actually shortens your life.
People wont know for at least 60 years because there can be no imperical evidence.
It does seem strange they go to great lengths to shorten lives with vaccinations and other poisons, and then they come up with this. No doubt it’s meant to prolong the life of those considered important.
Sounds like Satan is conconcting a new brew, while prolonging his time at trying to play God.
Make no mistake about it, the importance of a person will depend on how long they want ya around, and how well one serves the system. This could work if one doesn’t mind being just a slave.
unemployment in my area is huge way higher than 9% its at least twice that not counting illegals and underemployed, none of the middle class jobs are out here and a person 50 to 70 is not going
to be taken seriously by any potential employer, these guys would have to sell real estate or something and thats a dead industry, with only life insurance sales or alarm system sales what do old folks do for a job in this economy? they are not getting selected to do manual labor or physical jobs where younger stronger workers are available it aint gonna happen the risk of injury down time etc. its not gonna happen so its what? low paying retail or office jobs where the lay offs have all occured LOL LOL LOL and there again these jobs can be offshored, or given to very low wage young people who are unemployed at equal or even great % than the grays. this is why odumbo gets re elected the population feels their 62 year old retirement age is gonna get raised by the austerity clad republicrats and that is not gonna fly, in fact they would be more likely to vote for any candidate saying they would not only save the 62 year old retirement but add in a lowering of the medicare age from 65 to 62 afterall this age group is unemployed at 10 to 20% levels and basically uninsureable and wont get hired because of it, and wont be able to afford the premiums if they get lucky and find a job
no one will hire a gray haired person today, and why should they have to, they are old tired out, more expensive to insure, and probably less productive, their experience may be valuable it depends on what it takes to do the job, most jobs the experience is irrelevant as the mundane routine of working on a computer, and talking on the phone in cases where the experience is detrimental, and the companies want a youthful person for sound, look, or future development in almost every case we can say that the gray haired person has to be forced into the mix only a union environment cares about the older worker and they are gone in the business world, only in government and remember government jobs dont go to white people in california period so its not working for ya.
an extra 75 years, another life time. lets see that means 60 years of military service to get full retirement. also you can get a bigger confirmed kill score too.
i can see red wine sales going up and a lot more viagra being used.
they want less of us and want who is left to live longer so they can get more milage out of us slaves, less retirement they have to pay, work us for 150 years, then by by off to the scrap heap. oh ya, FIRST!
