Franco Vitaliano developed Cronus: The communication systems between satellites and computers for US Military

As soon as I published the ultimate Franco Vitaliano deep dive entitled; “Internet to GQD Particle: How NSA’s Franco Vitaliano became the heart of The Transhumanist Agenda” 1, new information about his history surfaced.

There is a paragraph in “CRONUS ENHANCEMENTS: RL-TR-95-117 Final Technical Report“, dated July 1995 that states Franco Vitaliano developed the operating system for Cronus for the US Air Force. 2 Cronus connects satellites to computers.

The article cited is; “Upper Layer Interoperability”, it’s an article he writes but I cannot find it anywhere.

The US Air Force uses that language for the Cronus system. I thought it was computers but this second link; “UHF (Ultra High Frequency) Military Satellite Communications – DTIC.”, refers to that for satellites and… frequencies? The article states the levels of interoperability implies satellites for the US Army, Navy and Air Force. Franco Vitaliano wrote the article on the levels of interoperability itself for the Air Force found in the first link. Interoperability refers to SATCOM itself! 3

Airborne radio telephone communication via a satellite is usually abbreviated to the term SATCOM. Use of satellites for this purpose complements satellite-based navigation capability. Aircraft onboard equipment for SATCOM includes a satellite data unit, a high power amplifier and an antenna with a steerable beam. 4 5

“This is the final report for the second contract phase for development of the Cronus Project. Cronus is the name given to the distributed operating system (DOS) and system architecture for distributed application development environment being designed and implemented by BBN Laboratories for the Air Force Rome Air Development Center (RADC). The project was begun in 1981. The Cronus distributed operating system is intended to promote resource sharing among interconnected computer systems and manage the collection of resources which are shared. Its major purpose is to provide a coherent and integrated system based on clusters of interconnected heterogeneous computers to support the development and use of distributed applications. Distributed applications range from simple programs that merely require convenient reference to remote data, to collections of complex distributions of Cronus is a unifying architecture and model for developing these distributed applications, as well as support for a number of system-provided functions which are common to many applications.” 6

This technology has since been expanded from Vitaliano’s EMF technology to Photon based communication between satellites and the Quantum Cloud as seen in the work of Ian F. Akyildiz. 7 Ian’s “laser” technology has been deployed on Starlink 8, and is essential for communication between Clathrin GQD neural interface 9 and the Quantum Cloud. 10
