Greek snipers who won “Europe’s Best” were honoured by General Floros – Watch video

Six officers and non-commissioned officers of the newly created Special Warfare Command of the Greek military distinguished themselves in the “European Best Sniper Team Competition 2022” was awarded on Monday by General Konstantinos Floros.

The competition was organised by the Joint Multinational Readiness Center of the US 7th Army Training Command and took place in Hohenfels, Germany.

The Greek military participated with two groups of snipers who won 1st and 4th place among 36 teams from 18 countries (Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Estonia, USA, Italy, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Czech Republic and Finland).

The ceremony, which took place at the Special Forces Training Center at the “Lieutenant General Andreas Kallinskis” camp in Nea Peramos, Attica, was attended by the head of the General Staff Vice-Admiral Stylianos Petrakis PN, the head of the General Staff Vice-Admiral Themistocles Bourolias, the Inspector General of the Army – Commander of Doctrine and Training Lt. General Nikolaos Flaris as the representative of GES chief Lt. Gen. Charalambos Lalousis, DEP commander Lt. Gen. George Tsitsikostas, DDEE commander Lt. Gen. Georgios Manouras and GES/DET director Lt. Gen. Dimitrios Vounisios.

The military chief, in his greeting, pointed out that the significant distinction of the Hellenic Special Forces and Special Operations Forces is a great and enviable success, stressing that the determination combined with their persistent and painstaking training makes them capable of responding to demanding scenarios of increased complexity and difficulty.

He also emphasised that since it was founded in April 2020, the Faculty has modernised and upgraded the possibilities of designing and executing Special Operations, contributing to the promotion of interdisciplinarity and a common operational understanding.
