You should know that there are two types of stomach aches – one that is long term and chronic, and one that is less serious, usually caused by something you ate that day or by severe stress. This may be caused by a new dish of food, which the body may be negatively responding to. Of course it is also essential that you learn how to de-stress and alleviate negative hampers on your lifestyle. Otherwise, you may be losing out on many years of your life.

Listed below are a few simple steps that can help you relieve an upset stomach.

  • Drink up: water helps relieve stomach aches due to the beneficial properties it exhibits on the digestive system, so it would be best to drink plenty of pure water when it hits — or even just regularly. If you get it, continue drinking and it will help the digestive system flow normally again.

  • Get cinnamon or ginger. Mix less than a teaspoon of cinnamon in water and drink it. You can also get about less than a teaspoon of ground ginger and make tea. Both will further assist the pure water in allowing the digestive tract flow smoothly.

  • Try fennel seeds. Make tea with fennel seeds and drink it three times a day. It is recommended that you drink it on an empty stomach.

  • Try mint or thyme. Create a mint or thyme tea. Mint and thyme both soothe the pain of the stomach while helping it flow normally.

  • Nibble on some crackers. If your upset stomach is caused by stress, it is most possible that your antacid levels are high. Do not eat anything savory. Try crackers as they are bland in flavor and will not set your stomach acids in further off-balance.

These are a number of ways to help an upset stomach, but remember to try to analyze why it happened before you remedy the condition, so you would know exactly what to do. And more importantly, how to prevent it!
