The prudence of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the preparedness of Iran’s Armed Forces, and the unity as well as the vigilance of the Iranian nation have served as key deterrents against any military strike by the West after the 9/11 incidents in the United States, added Deputy Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Alireza Tangsiri on Monday.
After the September 11 attacks, the enemies intended to mount a military siege on Iran through deploying a massive force in Iraq and Afghanistan, he added.
The commander went on to say the US will incur a heavy cost for maintaining its military forces on its aircraft carriers and bases in various countries across the world. This is why it plunders the oil of other countries and wages war to sell its warfare, Tangsiri added.
He emphasized that Iran’s Armed Forces shoulder the responsibility for beefing up the country’s defensive capabilities.
Over the recent years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in developing important military equipment and systems.
Iran has repeatedly clarified that its military might is merely based on the nation’s defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries.
