Israeli settlers injure Palestinian boy

Palestinians security sources said a group of about 40 Israeli settlers entered the Burqin area in the West Bank and clashed with residents on Saturday.

One of the settlers opened fire and wounded 14-year-old Hassan Balkawi, who was hit in the shoulder, the sources added.

Israeli military officials claimed there had been no information that a Palestinian was shot in the “brief” incident on Saturday, AFP reported.

The clash in Burqin comes a couple of days after medical sources in the Gaza Strip said a six-year-old Palestinian boy was wounded by “Israeli army gunfire” in the south of the besieged Palestinian territory on March 18.

About 500,000 Israelis live in more than 100 settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the number of the settlers is increasing.
