Wanted: Samantha Lewthwaite, pictured here during here school days, has now been linked to a blast in Kenya
Seven officers from Scotland Yard’s Counter Terrorism Command will fly to Kenya tomorrow to hunt the British widow of a 7/7 bomber after three people were killed in a grenade attack at a packed bar.
Samantha Lewthwaite, 28, who is wanted for possessing explosives and conspiring to make bombs, has been on the run with her three children since she escaped a swoop on terrorist suspects in Mombasa in December.
She has now been linked to last Sunday’s attack on the Jericho Beer Garden in the Kenyan city.
Alex Momanyi, 26, whose cousin and friend died in the attack, said: ‘I was outside taking a call when the place was blown apart.
‘Three cars drove off, but a few minutes later one of them, a white Toyota station wagon, returned and a woman in Muslim robes ran from some nearby bushes and got into it.’
A police source said: ‘The sighting of a Muslim woman in a noisy place where people were drinking is highly significant, and we believe Lewthwaite could be involved.
‘She has emerged as a woman capable of masterminding this sort of act and being actively involved.
She has been at large for months and may think she is invincible after merging into the Muslim community.’
Attack: One of the injured is treated in hospital following the bar blast in Mombasa
Lewthwaite, of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, converted to Islam in her teens. She denounced her bomber husband Jermaine Lindsay after he killed 26 people in a suicide attack on London’s Piccadilly Line in 2005.
But she left England to travel abroad and has been linked to Somalia’s al-Shabaab terror group. She is also believed to have set up terrorist cells with Briton Jermaine Grant, who is due to go on trial in Kenya next month accused of conspiring to carry out bomb attacks.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said yesterday: ‘We cannot not reveal details of the team’s trips to Kenya for security reasons.’

A muslim woman out on her own with 3 kids, 7 policemen in blue uniforms with pointy helmets, all trying to be inconspicuous. I feel there’s a plot for a comedy film in there somewhere.

A white woman with 3 white children must stand out like a sore thumb in Kenya so unless the Kenyan police are colour blind why do you need to send out 7 Scotland Yard police officers? I don’t suppose any of them are below the rank of Inspector.

I ‘m all for hanging the criminals who do such terrible deeds. However, I am also very much in favour of justice…….please, let this person be detained and tried before we call for any punishment toward her.

Didn’t our security service say just after 7/7 that this woman did not pose any threat and she was allowed to go on and draw benefits.

It seems the people are being brainwashed again by the propagandists. Of course she isn’t any sort of terrorist mastermind, we are merely being given a hate figure to focus on again. Maybe she is involved in some way but to even suggest she is the brains behind these acts is total nonsense. When will the people wake up to the way we are being manipulated.
