Killed … Sergeant Blaine Diddams.
The SAS patrol commander who was killed in operations in Afghanistan on Monday was a highly-decorated soldier and father of two, according to an Australian Defence Force statement.
The statement said Sergeant Blaine Diddams was the recipient of eight military honours and awards.
Sergeant Diddams undertook seven tours of duty in Afghanistan since 2001 as well as operations in Somalia, East Timor and the Solomon Islands.
He is survived by wife, Toni-Ann, their daughter, Elle-Lou, and son, Henry.
”Known for his outwards personality and quirky sense of humour, he was held in the highest regard by his mates and comrades alike,” the statement said.
