Lawyer: Texan to fight allegation he killed doctor

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — A defense attorney says a Texas plastic surgeon intends to fight the allegation that he paid someone thousands of dollars in silver bars to kill a fellow doctor who was dating his ex-girlfriend.

Lubbock attorney Dan Hurley said Tuesday that the affidavit accusing Dr. Thomas Michael Dixon and another man in Dr. Joseph Sonnier III‘s death “raises as many questions as it answers.” Hurley calls the allegation “untrue.”

Dixon and David Neal Shepard were arrested by police in Amarillo early Monday. Sonnier was the chief pathologist for Covenant Health System in Lubbock. He was found dead last week.

The arrest warrant affidavit suggests a love triangle between Dixon, Sonnier and a woman police have declined to identify.

The affidavit also claims Shepard watched Sonnier for weeks.
