A former Queensland auditor-general has been hired to verify the costings of the Liberal National Party’s election promises.
Opposition Deputy Leader Tim Nicholls said Len Scanlan, who held office for seven years, will scour through their election commitment and his findings will be released before Queenslanders go to the polls on March 24.
According to the LNP’s website, the party has so far released 50 policies, but most of them are uncosted.
“Len Scanlan held the position of auditor-general of Queensland from December 1997 until December 2004 and was highly respected by all sides of politics,” Mr Nicholls said.
“We have worked closely with Mr Scanlan and will continue to do so over the next five weeks.
“All our election policies will be fully costed and fully funded with the costings released before the election.”
