FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda The Iraqi premier lashed out at his Turkish counterpart, saying Erdogan’s remarks did not show “mutual respect.”
“We do not have any problems with Turkey,” Maliki told NRT, a Kurdish satellite channel, according to a statement issued by his office.
“We do not want to antagonize Turkey, or Iran, or America, or Saudi Arabia, or any other country, but what happened and the remarks issued by Turkey do not show mutual respect.”
During a press conference in Italy on Tuesday, the Turkish prime minister said that his government had always supported al-Hashemi and would continue to do so in future.
Erdogan’s remarks came shortly after the international police organization, Interpol, issued a “Red Notice” for Hashemi’s arrest “on suspicion of guiding and financing terrorist attacks” in Iraq.
Hashemi is accused of ordering attacks and deadly bombings against innocent Iraqi civilians as well as government and security officials over the past years, including a November 2011 car bombing in the capital Baghdad that apparently targeted Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. He and his bodyguards also face accusations of killing six judges.
Before entering Turkey, Hashemi had fled to the Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq and later to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
It is still unclear whether the Turkish police would take any measures to arrest Hashemi.
In an attempt to provide protection for Hashemi, the Turkish government has reportedly rented two apartments for him and his four bodyguards in Istanbul’s suburbs, following a set of talks between Hashemi, Davutoglu and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Ankara has also reportedly allocated 17 bodyguards and five cars, including a bullet-proof automobile, to provide further security for Hashemi.
