Police are still trying to determine why a man was shot several times in a caravan on the New South Wales south coast.
Police have already carried out an initial search of the caravan park in Nowra, where the man was shot just before 2:00am AEDT.
The 30-year-old local was flown to the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney where he is in a serious but stable condition.
It is believed a pistol was used in the attack.
Acting Superintendent John Behrendt says the victim is known to police but it is not yet clear what prompted the attack.
“We’ve interviewed a number of witnesses that are assisting us with our inquiries and we’re about to speak to more people,” he said.
He says the attacker fled the scene straight after the shooting.
