Man fights for life after suspected assault

A 29-year-old man is in hospital with a life-threatening injury to his head after a possible assault outside a Perth restaurant.

Police were called to Lackers Grill, in Perth’s entertainment district of Northbridge, just before 4.30am (WST) today after reports that a man had been seriously injured outside the venue.

The man was taken to hospital with a spinal injury and a life-threatening head injury.

Police say the man was probably assaulted outside the venue.

Four people who were at the venue have been taken into custody and are assisting police with their investigation. More people are believed to have been involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old Perth man will have surgery after a large part of his ear was bitten off in a brawl at another Northbridge venue early this morning.

Police broke up a fight between two groups at the Villa Nightclub, then learnt that one man had already been taken to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance after part of his ear was bitten off.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
