Man met violent death in Sydney unit block

A MAN met a violent death before his body was found stuffed in a cupboard in the common area of a unit block in inner Sydney, police say.

Disability pensioner Rodney Scarman, 51, was found in the Walker Street housing commission building in Waterloo in the early hours of Boxing Day.

Autopsy results have revealed he met a violent death, NSW Police said in a statement today.

For the second time since his death, the Redfern Local Area Command is holding a media conference to ask the public for more information.

Last week, Detective Superintendent Luke Freudenstein told reporters there were no visible signs of injury on the body, with the death at that stage being treated as suspicious.

A reward of up to $1000 has been offered for information that leads to an arrest.

Strike Force Brissett was formed to investigate the murder.
