Premiership footballer Mario Balotelli has admitted having an affair with a prostitute linked to Wayne Rooney.

The player’s agent said he had decided to come clean about his ‘brief involvement’ with Jennifer Thompson over fears she planned to sell her story a tabloid newspaper.

In 2010 Miss Thompson, 23, told journalists that Manchester United striker Rooney had paid her £1,200-a-night for sex while his wife Coleen was five months pregnant with their son Kai.

Now Manchester City striker Balotelli,
21, has revealed he also had a ‘fling’ with Miss Thompson, but did not
say when and for how long.

Balotelli has been with his current girlfriend, Italian model Raffaella
Fico, since May. In a show of solidarity, she arrived with the player to
the Carrington training ground yesterday.

Mino Raiola, who represents the Italian, said: ‘Mario is a young and
impulsive footballer and as such he is an easy target for tabloids
looking for stories and people seeking to benefit from being associated
with him.

‘Lately I feel the chase has become more purposeful and women, in
particular, are targeting him looking to make money from him directly or
by selling papers stories that relate to situations they have
intentionally pursued.

‘It now seems that one of these women has succeeded and the newspapers have their story.
‘In this regard, we therefore wish to confirm that Mario has had a brief
involvement with Miss Jennifer Thompson, a well-known figure among
tabloid readers in England.’

Public relations expert Max Clifford admitted they were representing
Miss Thompson and that negotiations over the sale of her story were
on-going.

He said: ‘She has been pursued by the tabloids over an alleged friendship with Balotelli and asked us to represent her.

‘We represented her some time ago when she was linked to Wayne Rooney.’

Miss Thompson, who signed up to an escort agency at the age of 19 under
the name ‘Juicy Jeni’, claims Rooney slipped away from his £4.5million
mansion in Cheshire to meet her at Manchester’s five-star Lowry Hotel
seven times – including for a threesome with fellow prostitute Helen
Wood, 25.

Last night a friend of Miss Thompson said: ‘She met Balotelli in a bar in Manchester and saw each other a few times.

‘He ended it quite quickly. It was a few months after the Rooney thing
came out and there was a lot of bad press about Jenny. He wanted out of
it.
‘She wasn’t that bothered – she wasn’t in love with him.

Balotelli has exasperated his club’s manager Roberto Mancini with his unpredictable behaviour.

He was fined £100,000 by the club when he threw a dart at youth team
players, was quizzed by police after driving into a women’s prison ‘out
of curiosity’ and miraculously escaped injury when fireworks were let
off in the bathroom of his £3million home.

This month, he was fined £250,000 after he broke his curfew to visit a strip club.

But his understanding girlfriend, was unphased.

She said: ‘He can go to a strip club if he does nothing wrong, with
friends, but I have to say that the end always comes back to me because I
am his favourite.’
