Two men are in hospital with serious injuries after a group of masked men turned up to a birthday party in Sydney’s west and stabbed four guests.

The five masked men armed with machetes and knives arrived uninvited at the 21st birthday party in Green Valley just before midnight (AEDT).

Police say it appears the group were attempting to gatecrash the party and started fighting with partygoers in the driveway.

Four men in their twenties were stabbed. One man suffered a stab wound to his arm, another was stabbed in his lower leg, while two men suffered cuts to their backs.

The two men who were taken to hospital have serious but non-life threatening injuries.

After the stabbings, the group fled the scene in a silver sedan, believed to be a Mercedes-Benz Kompressor.

Inspector Jason Davies says police are still trying to establish why the group arrived at the house.

“The residents of the location were having a celebration of a 21st birthday party with family and friends and was enjoying the evening until around about 11:50 when these people turned up to the party,” he said.

“It appears as if it was possibly a case of trying to gatecrash the party but we’ll be looking at all avenues in relation to the motives for those people turning up.”

A crime scene was established and detectives from Green Valley Local Area Command are wanting to speak to a number of men of Asian appearance that may be able to assist their inquiries.
