McGowan says more promises will be broken if the Liberals win the federal election

The State Opposition Leader Mark McGowan has urged West Australians to take local issues into account when voting in this weekend’s federal election.

Mr McGowan says people who are angry with the Premier Colin Barnett over budget cuts or broken promises should use their vote to send the Federal Coalition a message.

The remarks contradict Mr McGowan’s own advice to voters in the lead-up to the state election, which was to separate state and federal issues when casting their vote.

But he says the advice is justified because there is a direct link between Mr Barnett and the Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott.

“Mr Abbott has clearly said on a number of occasions that Mr Barnett is his role model and I think people need to take note of that because Mr Barnett is an expert at breaking promises.”
