AN eight-year-old girl has died after spending four days alone in the desert with a convicted paedophile.
An eight-year-old girl who went missing from a remote WA Aboriginal community on New Year’s Eve has died.
Police found the girl alive in a remote Aboriginal community near the Gibson Desert in Western Australia but she was seriously ill and died soon after.
Officers said she was severely dehydrated and unwell and had lapsed into unconsciousness. The West Australian reported that she weighed little more than 20kg.
They said her death was being treated as suspicious.
Police found the girl in the company of Augustine Winter Miller, 38, who was sentenced to 15 months in jail in 2006 over a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
Mr Miller was receiving treatment for his injuries this morning and is expected to be interviewed later today.
Mr Miller and the girl were reported missing after they were last seen leaving the Tjirrkarli Aboriginal Community on Saturday.
Aerial searches yesterday located a vehicle about 25km from the community. Mr Miller and Danielle were found shortly afterwards in dense bushland about 10km from the car.
