This is the hair-raising moment a Chinese soldier almost killed himself after fluffing hand grenade practice.
Footage of the army training exercise shows the soldier preparing the hand grenade to throw it under the watchful eye of his drill sergeant.
However, the new recruit fails miserably and throws it into a wall in front of him and it promptly bounces off and falls into the ditch where he’s standing.

Realising his mistake he hits the ground and covers his head with his hands just feet away from from the explosive.
Luckily for him, his quick thinking captain drags him to safety with just seconds to spare.

The mistake, which could have proved fatal, was filmed in China and posted on You Tube.
It has received almost 200,00 hits and was covered by TV stations in the country.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the botched training exercise.

Once you have pulled the pin, Mr. Grenade is not your friend. Old US Marine saying, or so they say. Joking aside there are probably more foul up in the grenade throwing pit than anywhere else in weapons training. I say half a dozen or so in my service time as an Armourer and that was the the RAF. It must have been worse in the Army.

As the man at my local Chinese said the other day when I got some chips “you want sore finger”….I thought he meant ‘salt vinegar’….maybe he is doing a sideline in people’s army pieces!! lol

Sorry, but I don’t believe that the Chinese military would allow such footage to be released. It’s anybody’s guess who made this video. It could be a western government or an elaborate prankster – there’s a lot of money to be made from videos that go viral.

eagleeyes, Warwickshire, 25/12/2011 20:06—of course it was not a large explosion you nerd, hand grenades are small anti personal devises that can kill and injure soldiers on the battlefield within a small throwing range without killing or injuring the person who throws it.
