Astrology, Alignments, and New Heart-Prints

Mercury is retrograde this month (beginning August 12). For many who follow astrology as a map for navigating life, this may mean temporarily putting everything on hold. No new projects. No new contracts. No new commitments. This is because the planet Mercury rules communication, truth, clear thinking, and travel. Astrology indicates that when the planet Mercury is retrograde (running backward), any manifestation efforts will be stifled, stagnant, or potentially unsuccessful.

But is this absolutely true? What if astrology is only a tendency, a probability state that exists alongside other equally weighted probability states? Perhaps astrology is simply a map we follow, through a series of habituated responses based on morphic resonance?

What is Morphic Resonance?

The word morphic comes from the Greek morphe, meaning “form.” The science of morphic resonance can best be understood by studying the pioneering research of biologist Rupert Sheldrake, Ph.D. Sheldrake has proposed that all of life is dependent on large organizing fields: informational and energetic templates for life, with each species having its own template field. Morphic fields organize the form, structure, and patterned interactions of systems under their influence.

Sheldrake theorizes that nothing in the universe is separate, although it may appear separate. In other words, that which appears separate and differentiated receives structural and functional marching orders through resonance with morphic fields of information. Morphic fields are, in effect, maps or blueprints for life.

According to Sheldrake,

“A morphic field is a field within and around a morphic unit that organizes its characteristic structure and pattern of activity. Morphic fields underlie the form and behavior of holons, or morphic units, at all levels of complexity. The term morphic field includes morphogenetic, behavioral, social, cultural, and mental fields. Morphic fields are shaped and stabilized by morphic resonance from previous similar morphic units, which were under the influence of fields of the same kind. They consequently contain a kind of cumulative memory and tend to become increasingly habitual.”

To me, morphic fields are nonlocal containers of information that organize the experience of reality for all living organisms. They operate like cloud servers that host data. When an organism is connected to a particular “cloud” of information (morphic field), certain experiences are more likely to occur based on the morphic units (bits of information) contained therein. Morphic fields are like software programs that provide directions for operating systems at all levels of life. (See: The Integrity Effect).

According to Sheldrake, morphic fields are probabilstic in nature. In other words, morphic resonance explains how the presence of the past affects our future. The memories of prior behaviors and experiences (schemas and maps) influence the tendencies of what possibly happens next. All systems have their own morphic fields, located within and around the systems they influence. These systems follow the flow of information that is embedded within its corresponding field and contain, in effect, a form of memory of their past. Morphic fields function like outlines guiding the behavior for all organisms and organizations.

Structured Maps and Flow

Morphic fields organize reality. Everything has a morphic field. There are familial morphic fields, social morphic fields, cultural morphic fields, religious morphic fields, political morphic fields, and even economic morphic fields.  Astrology is a morphic field too.

Consider that astrology is a morphic field that can wield its influence on our lives only to the extent we choose to resonate with certain tendencies. Mercury retrograde in astrology describes a science of tendency and predictability. However, heart centered awareness is the science of possibility. When we live from our hearts and choose to trust our intuitive guidance, we enter a realm of anything is possible living, and we can circumnavigate even the most challenging planetary grids.

Recently I was deliberating upon the ideal time to publish my new book The Integrity Effect. I consulted two seasoned astrologers who each had different recommendations for when to launch this newest creation. One esteemed astrologer advised me to wait until Mercury goes direct. The other well-trained astrologer also advised I wait for Mercury to turn around, but noted a small window of time in my chart before Mercury fully turned, where the book could launch successfully.

Neither option felt really right to me. I found myself in Mercurial turmoil. I genuinely trusted both astrologers’ expertise and readings, as their skills and prior support had proven invaluable through many life challenges. However, how could I reconcile these conflicting readings in my mind? How could I transform this turmoil to soothing Heart-terms?

My heart was telling me it was time to put this book out Now, rather than wait. My guidance was saying, “Trust. Listen from within. Choose anew.” My intuitive heart was beckoning me to step into something bigger than even the morphic field of astrology, not to prove I can transcend astrology, but to align with creating new Heart-prints. I was being guided to create new maps based on what is possible; new templates for limitless living that are more powerful and expansive than the limited habits of the past.

I was invited to choose my resonance, something I do on a daily basis and teach students around the world to do, but have never actually done in relation to my astrology.  I found myself in new and unfamiliar terrain. While I understood the physics and science of morphic resonance and had written several books on heart-centered awareness, quantum physics, hologramming, and interactive reality creation, I was challenged by what my heart was actually asking me to do. I was hesitant as I could hear Mercury taunting me, tainting my perspective, and challenging my limiting beliefs through the astrological predictions.

My heart’s guidance (guides / guidesses integrated as One with me) was asking me to go bigger and bolder than the morphic field imprints of astrology. I could choose to resonate in a unified field, the Zero Point, bigger than Mercury and Venus combined. Through the field of the heart it was easy to recognize that even the planets are still a whole part of me, although somehow seemingly bigger than me in myriad of expressions.

I realized my heart was guiding me to trust that astrological configurations are simply morphic fields and are only relatively true when we resonate with them. I was being guided to choose my morphic resonance, in the same way I teach students to connect to Fields of Flow, Fulfillment, Abundance and Joy as an everyday experience. Where we resonate, so we experience.

Change the Current and Reality Conforms Accordingly

Morphic field imprints help to explain why astrology can be so accurate. When we are in resonance with a particular astrology, the information inherent to that morphic field is more likely to be activated (and actualize) as experience.   However when we change our resonance, our experiences change accordingly. This is physics. This is interactive reality creation.

For the past several decades, I have leveraged astrology as a guiding map to assist me in making important decisions. Astrology can complement our intuition and the innate intelligence of our timeless heart-fields. Dozens of astrological charts have been cast for me, based on my known birth time and location. Regardless of the type of astrology used to run my chart, there has been an uncanny accuracy to the readings. Consistently, the alignment of the planets has corresponded to situations and circumstances playing out in my life.

However, last year I had an unexpected surprise. While pursuing a project to digitize the family photo albums, I ran across my birth album with the photos taken the day I was brought home from the hospital. It was my incarnation album. Inside the front cover was an inscription of my actual birth time. This was a full 90 minutes later than the birth time I had been (incorrectly) using for decades with astrologers. In astrology, every minute of birth time corresponds to a different positioning of the planets. So my chart was roughly ninety minutes and ninety degrees off. Thus, in relation to Time itself, (another morphic field), I was more than a year off in multiple astrological trajectories.

A part of me wanted to freak out! Could this explain why I always had this feeling of “hurry-up-and-wait” in my life, as though I were always a few steps ahead of myself? Was this why I skipped a grade in school and was a year younger than all my peers, but still somehow caught up and fit in? Was this why I always felt a need to be ahead of schedule, making goal setting so easy, but then invariably encountered delays every which way? Or, was this new birth time discovery perhaps in perfect alignment, such that uncovering my correct birth time now could help me to relax into what I am currently creating with flow, ease, and grace?

Perhaps following the wrong astrology was right all along and this new configuration was more accurately suited to my life from this point forward? What if this meaningful coincidence is all a story I tell myself to make sense of what no longer makes sense retrospectively? Maybe both charts are relatively true?

So which chart did I look at to determine when to launch my book? What did I ultimately decide to do? I chose to trust my heart, integrating both astrological maps as probability states. From the field of my heart, I experienced something I teach students all around the world to do; coherency, congruence, and integrity in action. I trusted my heart to evaluate all options and choose the day that felt right, true, and correct to me. I decided to move forward with publishing my book immediately, while traveling and teaching M-Joy seminars in Australia and Bali. This ran counter to the astrologers’ suggestions, and to all known principles surrounding successful book launches.

I didn’t really go against the norm. I didn’t go against anything. I simply flowed with the true callings of my heart. I created a new norm based on the truth of what my heart was seeking to reveal. These new experiences encoded for the very resonance of the book, The Integrity Effect, which is all about creating new Heart-prints relative to morphic fields, one choice at a time.

So, although Mercury may be retrograde this month and astrology might advise me to constrict while the planets construct havoc, I choose to expand. I choose to expand and open into my own innate infinite potential. This is something that is available to everyone. We can all choose to expand and open. Just open. When we understand the principles of morphic resonance and the power of commanding field flow, we can always trust our hearts and choose accordingly.

I am not sure exactly what the planets are doing today. I am one day ahead of my normal time zone, 15 hours to be exact, but there is no time in the eternal heart as I play in the jungle of Bali. Mercury is being goofy and Pluto is nowhere to be seen. Yet I woke up this morning to discover The Integrity Effect attained #1 Hot New Release for its category, trending toward Best Seller. This is hotter than anything Mercury may transmit, and demonstrates the morphic field of Trust ripples in all directions no matter which way our planets may turn.

Turn to Trust and align with new Heart-prints one choice (and planet) at a time. Plan-it  (and everything) according to the volition of your heart, and what brings you Joy. Trust the heart and choose. Just Choose, knowing eventually Mercury will go direct, come what May. May all be in alignment through the heart of the Eternal Now.
