Neighbours who broke into a disabled man’s burning Queensland home and dragged him to safety have saved his life.
Fire broke out at the home at Petrie, north of Brisbane, about 3.30am (AEST) on Tuesday and the man, who uses a walking frame, was unable to escape, a spokesman for Queensland Fire and Rescue said.
The man managed to get to a screen door but could not get outside.
Neighbours who noticed the fire, broke a bedroom window and pulled him to safety, leaving him with a few scratches but otherwise unhurt.
Their actions had undoubtedly saved the man’s life, the spokesman said.
The house was destroyed.
