A chauffeur has been stabbed at Sydney Airport by a shoeless carjacker.
The drama unfolded at the domestic terminal on Monday night as a man, wearing a fluorescent green jacket and dark shorts but no shoes, allegedly stole a rental car before crashing it into a minibus.
Police say he abandoned it and pounced on a chauffeur, who was sitting in his car waiting for a passenger.
The chauffeur managed to kick away the man who was trying to steal his luxury vehicle, but was stabbed in the leg.
His attacker fled the airport after carjacking a silver 2010 Mercedes-Benz E250 sedan being driven by a 57-year-old woman.
She was unhurt.
Detectives spent the night at the airport interviewing witnesses.
The search continues for the carjacker, described as Caucasian, in his 20s, with short brown hair, and the stolen Mercedes, registration plate BPW35Q.
