‘No nuclear activity in Iran’s Parchin’

“No nuclear activity whatsoever has taken place at the Parchin site,” Abbasi said on Wednesday.

Referring to a request by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to visit Parchin, Abbasi said, “We will only show the sites which have been declared by the IAEO and are under the supervision of the IAEA, unless Iranian authorities decide otherwise.”

The Iranian nuclear chief added that the IAEO is under no obligation to show the agency every geographical location it chooses in the country.

Abbasi said that the decision to allow IAEA inspectors visit Parchin is for Iran’s military official to make.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program, using this pretext to impose sanctions against Iran and threaten the country with military attack.

Iran has refuted the allegations, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and IAEA member, it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful use.

The IAEA has never found any evidence of diversion in Iran’s civilian nuclear program in its numerous inspections of the country’s nuclear facilities.
