Opposition Groups Join Peace in Balkh

Two armed opposition groups joined the peace process in Balkh and handed over their weapons, police says.

“The groups include 97 fighters who were engaged in terrorist activities in Char Bolak district,” Balkh police Chief Esmatullah Alizai told Veterans to day reporter Rashidi

The two groups were armed with light and heavy weapons that handed them to the provincial disarmament, demobilization and reintegration in charges.

“Most of these people resort insurgency due to poverty and unemployment,” Alizai said, asking the central government to provide job opportunity for them.

“Security condition will become better by the joining of these people to peace process.”

Mohammad Karim the commander of a group asked for being recruited to national or local police.
