Police searches continue in Bandidos hit

Police in Melbourne have begun a second day of searching the inner city for evidence linked to the shooting of a Bandidos bikie gang member.

Officers from the search and rescue squad descended on Moonee Ponds Creek in Kensington on Tuesday morning, searching for two missing handguns, clothing and other evidence from the near-fatal shooting of enforcer Toby Mitchell.

The 37-year-old was shot several times in the hip and back at a shopping centre carpark near the Bandidos clubhouse in November 2011. He survived after weeks in hospital.

On Monday, police searched a Parkville lake not far from where a burnt-out car was found. Police believe the car was stolen and used by the attackers.

Detectives are retracing their steps as the high-profile case remains unsolved, despite more than five months of investigation.

Police have identified no suspects. However, several people of interest have been looked at closely.
