A “DEVASTATED” Gerard Baden-Clay has hired a second lawyer on the same day police confirmed that his wife Allison had been murdered.

Mr Baden-Clay said he was trying to provide stability and normality for his three young daughters as police tried to solve the mystery that has gripped Queensland.

Mr Baden-Clay, in a statement released through his solicitor, said he had hired a senior barrister.

“My client is devastated by the loss of his wife. His family is devastated,” his lawyer Darren Mahony said. “His primary concern is the welfare of his three very young daughters and attempting to provide some stability and normality to them given the tragic news and the unrelenting media barrage.

“Given the intense public interest in the matter, no doubt prudent people would understand the reasonableness of seeking such advice.”

Police don’t know whether Mrs Baden-Clay was alive when she was taken into the dark and unforgiving Mt Crosby bushland on the night she disappeared almost two weeks ago.

Dozens of SES volunteers, Oxley police recruits and uniformed police have scoured bushland near where her body was found on the bank of Kholo Creek on Monday.

Conditions in the area are slippery and boggy and creeks are still flowing fast after weekend rain.

Police divers will today try to find other evidence.

Detective Superintendent Mark Ainsworth said police were yet to determine whether the mobile phone SIM card picked up near Kholo Creek was related to the case.

“We’ve got a team of about 25 detectives working on it. At this stage, the level of co-operation (from witnesses) has mostly been very good,” he said.

Supt Ainsworth said the search area stretched about 500m beyond the point where the body of Mrs Baden-Clay had been found. A post-mortem examination is yet to be completed.

“Obviously there’s been a deal of rain on the Friday night and Saturday, so we’ve got to examine all that as well … if the body has washed down to its final resting place or something else happened,” he said.

The 16ha Tyamolum Scout Campsite has replaced Brookfield Showgrounds as the police command post.

Scouts Queensland general manager Ian Lightbody yesterday issued a statement saying they were “saddened” by the discovery of Mrs Baden-Clay’s body at Kholo Creek crossing and were helping police.

Mr Baden-Clay is the great grandson of scouting founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell and has been an active member of the local scouting community.

Mrs Baden-Clay’s devastated parents, Geoff and Priscilla Dickie, yesterday visited Kholo Creek Bridge.

Soon after police confirmed Allison’s body had been found,  her parents-in-law shared a solemn moment as they lowered the Australian flag at the front of their Kenmore home.

More than 30 bunches of flowers were left on the fence of the Baden-Clay residence as the community promised to never forget the dedicated mum.
