Queensland couple survive mountain terror

A MAN accused of using his car to repeatedly ram a couple’s vehicle on a steep mountain road in central Queensland, has been charged with attempted murder.

Detectives in Mackay say the couple’s terrifying ordeal took place on the Eton Range yesterday afternoon.

It will be alleged the man drove his vehicle at a car containing a 35-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman as they drove down the range on the Peak Downs Highway, around 4.30pm (AEST).

Police claim the car was rammed several times, forcing it into guard rails and signposts along the side of the mountain.

But the couple managed to accelerate away and flag down a passing police vehicle.

A 23-year-old Eton man will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court tomorrow on a number of charges, including two counts of attempted murder.
