Roadside bomb kills 3 Pakistani troops

Local officials told Press TV that the incident took place in the Dasht area of Turbat city, situated about 1283 km (797 miles) southwest of the national capital Islamabad, on Thursday when a patrol car used by the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers stumbled on a buried explosive device.

Law enforcement forces cordoned off the area after the incident, and shifted the injured paramilitary troops to a local hospital to receive treatment.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the act of terror.

Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants and associated groups have carried out numerous attacks on security forces as well as civilians and managed to spread their influence in various regions of the country despite frequent offensives by Pakistani government against them.

Over 35,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001 when Pakistan entered an alliance with the US on the so-called war against terrorism, according to local media.

Since late 2009, there has been a surge in militant attacks in Pakistan.

Thousands more have been displaced by the wave of violence and militancy sweeping across the country.
