Americans desperate for a figure to rally behind would be wise to watch the first trailer for Sony’s remake of “RoboCop.” Directed by Jose Padilha, the film stars Joel Kinnaman as the title police machine, an honest cop who gets exploded by the bad guys and turned into RoboCop. Fans of Paul Verhoeven’s subversive and violent original film will note that this version of “RoboCop” carries a PG-13 rating, but what the film lacks in gore, it makes up for in big names. Supporting players include Michael Keaton, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel and Samuel L.
