Romania court backs President Basescu’s suspension
BBC – However, the court has yet to decide if the government acted legally when it changed the rules of the referendum, making it easier to oust the president. PM Victor Ponta accuses Mr Basescu of exceeding his authority and of meddling in government affairs. Conflict between the two has stalled political decision-making in Romania. Judges deliberated for nine hours before deciding that last Friday’s vote in parliament was legal. The referendum is scheduled for 29 July. Read article
