Whoops. It looks like Sen. Chuck Grassley‘s account was hacked by an opponent of the anti-piracy laws SOPA and PIPA Monday afternoon. In the interests of transparency, the hacker immediately identified himself tweeting “Dear Iowans, vote against ACTA, SOPA, and PIPA, because this man, Chuck Grassley, wants YOUR internet censored and all of that BS.” (Grassley actually withdrew his support from PIPA, the Senate bill, last week, but hell hath no fury like a hacker scorned, we suppose.) After about ten minutes tweeting on the topic — also revealing hilariously that Grassley’s password was “icecream” — the hacker has already retired, and Grassley’s office has confirmed the password break-in. The hacker said he’s an “Anonymous follower,” but perhaps someone more specific will take credit soon.
