A CANBERRA man charged with his elderly mother’s murder called ambulance officers to the home they shared, police said.
The 75-year-old woman was found dead in the kitchen, with no obvious wounds, last night.
Ambulance officers were called to the house in Yarralumla about 9pm.
They called police to the scene after speaking with the woman’s 32-year-old son.
“A short time later the male person was taken into custody and has subsequently been charged with murder,” Detective Superintendent Brett McCann said today.
The man was living with his mother at the address, police said.
A post-mortem examination will be made of the woman’s body on Thursday and the cause of her death is unknown at this stage.
The man will appear in the magistrate’s court later today.
