Still no agreement on Pacific Highway

NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay says he still hasn’t reached an agreement with the federal government over funding for the Pacific Highway.

Mr Gay spent Thursday in Canberra with his federal counterpart Anthony Albanese, talking about funding for the highway upgrade.

“It was friendly and a productive meeting (but) not conclusive,” Mr Gay told reporters in Sydney.

“We both agreed that we’ll meet again in the next few weeks to continue our dialogue.”

The two governments are yet to agree on a funding ratio to duplicate a deadly stretch of the highway in the north of the state.

NSW has pledged to spend $1.5 billion over four years.

The amount, announced in the state budget, was well below the $3.6 billion the federal government promised in the May budget on the proviso NSW matched its funding commitment dollar for dollar.
